Violence Reduction Units join the Caseworks Family

The London Boroughs of Croydon and Enfield, have separately approached HUBSolutions for a customised version of the Caseworks Anti-Social Behaviour System, which fully accommodates the Violence Reduction work which they are doing. The need was urgent, because the staff had already been recruited and at the time development work started, they had already acquired cases to work on.

The Violence Reduction System would need to be totally “Subject focussed” where the traditional Anti-Social Behaviour System was “Complainant focussed”. The new facility would need to include 1. The ability to record multiple Violence Risks within any case 2. The ability to add multiple Risk Factors which were impacting on the behaviour of the Subject 3. The ability to record all criminal convictions and sentences which the subject had received, 4. A sophisticated scoring system for Risk Management which would colour code the case, and set the priority which it should receive.

As well as these new system screens, the Violence Database would also need many of the well used parts of the Anti Social Behaviour System - such as Agency Contacts, Document Management, Reminders and Caseload management.

Finally, the Violence Reduction System would require its own data security considerations. One of the customers required that Violence cases should be completely invisible to all other users of the database.

All of these requirements were met within a three week period, in a new version of the system, implemented within the existing system. It took another week to train the staff on how to use it, and they were off. Staff in both Councils are saying that they are very pleased with, what appears to be, their brand new personal database.

No doubt that further enhancements will be needed, and no doubt other London Boroughs will also be interested. Watch this space!

The Violence Reduction Unit in the GLA have said “We've seen 72 per cent reduce their risk of harm from others following the intervention and 78 per cent feeling safer post intervention”
