GDPR Right to Forget for the Caseworks Case Management System
October 01, 2019
A new icon has appeared on the latest version of Caseworks
It is our latest version of an important aspect of the GDPR legislation
Previously, our “Right to Forget” facility for Caseworks GDPR was to supplement our Archive option, with a Deletion option
The problem with outright deletion of a record, is
- It leaves an incomplete ASB case
- The inclusion of that person’s data for anonymous statistics is lost
- Potentially the Person who wants to be forgotten has their details included in other records – eg. The Incident Record.
n conjunction with Scottish Borders Domestic Abuse Service who have already encountered this requirement in their Caseworks Domestic Abuse System , we have come up with a neat alternative. We have introduced a “Redaction” system option.
The user clicks the button, records the reason for this action and on Process, GDPR redaction occurs
The main record redacted
The history line in the same case redacted, with reason
This facility is available for all of our modules, and has currently been introduced onto our Anti Social Behaviour System for Trafford Council ASB Team and onto our Domestic Abuse System for Scottish Borders Council . We are looking to introduce it onto all of our systems without the need for a full upgrade.
We are currently developing a “bulk redaction facility” so that cases which are time-expired can be redacted, but retained for statistics. This will satisfy another requirement of the GDPR regulations, which is to retain personal data for only as long as this can be justified.
